Thanks for the comments, David. I considered your comment for a day or two before replying. I thought about removing the comments, as well, but then someone who might <em>want</em> the comments would never be able to access them. I'm better off leaving the comments and relying on the user to use print ranging to print perhaps only the article and the first comment or two. A savvy user would already know to check the Print Preview before printing, and that same user would probably be aware of the Print Range function, too.

If I were to install wp-print, it would add a Printer Friendly link with potentially another link to truncate the comments, but this is yet another visual element and another user action in order to reach a printer-friendly version. This compromises one of the goals of using a print stylesheet--no additional user action should be required.

Perhaps I could add a second print stylesheet, switchable via a Javascript link at the comment header, which will hide the comments when printing. What do you think?

Also, I should note that the print stylesheet which wp-print uses is not very efficient with its use of whitespace. There's a significant amount of page area which could populated with text instead of the border around the article and the padding within.

I like the new print style sheet -- as I like printing noteworthy articles -- but it still makes me print the comments along with your articles unless I tweak the print range manually. Joe Terranova, leader of the NJ Ubuntu LoCo, recently wrote a blog about disabling the printing of comments on his Wordpress blog: http://www.joeterranova.net/2008/04/04/site-updated/
